Project Overview & Strategic Objectives

i3Secure was selected to implement an ISO 27001-compliant Information Security Management System (ISMS) across the organisation, having previously delivered a successful ISO 27001 implementation for one of their acquired companies. Our proven expertise, especially our team’s background with leading Certification Bodies like LRQA and Perry Johnson Registrars, positioned us as the trusted partner for this project.

The objective was to achieve ISO 27001 certification by Q1 2025, fulfilling both regulatory and contractual obligations while embedding a more secure, efficient, and scalable approach to information security across the business.

Assessment, Risk Analysis & ISMS Design

We began with a thorough assessment of the organisation’s security posture, identifying key gaps such as inconsistent IT design and undocumented procedures. A detailed risk assessment was also conducted, focusing on critical operational data like GPS tracking, shipment schedules, and customer records, which helped prioritise high-risk areas.

Working in close collaboration with the organisation’s Information Security Team, we designed a tailored ISMS framework aligned with ISO 27001. This included defining clear security policies and objectives, mapping key information assets, and designing custom incident response and disaster recovery plans to support business continuity.

Implementation of Controls, Training & Auditing 

A comprehensive suite of technical and organisational controls was implemented, including:

  • Multi-factor authentication and secure access control systems

  • Regular vulnerability assessments and robust data backup protocols

  • Improved supplier diligence and staff movement management

To build a strong security culture, we delivered targeted employee training across all levels, focusing on data protection, phishing awareness, and ISO 27001 compliance.

Internal audits were conducted to evaluate ISMS effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. This process led to corrective actions such as improved visitor management and further strengthening of physical security in sensitive areas.

Certification Support 

i3Secure supported the organisation through both the Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits. We ensured that all documentation was in place and that audit preparation was thorough. The Stage 1 Audit returned no opportunities for improvement; a strong indicator of audit readiness.

During the Stage 2 Audit, our consultants were present to guide and support the team, ensuring all evidence was clearly communicated and aligned with ISO 27001 requirements. The organisation successfully achieved ISO 27001 certification within the target timeframe, demonstrating full regulatory compliance and a strong commitment to information security.
