Each year, Remembrance Sunday serves as a time to pause, reflect and honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in our Armed Forces. Across the country, communities come together to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom and to support those who continue to serve today. For many veterans, it holds a deeply personal meaning – and this year, one of our own took part in a very special way.
On Sunday 9 November, Chic Rae of i3Secure proudly stepped onto the parade ground at the Cenotaph in London, marching with the Royal Air Force Police Association (RAFPA) contingent – something he had wanted to do for many years. Although during his own service he never had the opportunity, this year he volunteered for the parade and secured his place.
Remembrance Day is a deeply meaningful occasion that brings together serving personnel, veterans and civilians to honour not only those who gave their lives in combat for the freedoms we enjoy today, but also the countless civilians whose lives were lost in conflict.
This year’s National Act of Remembrance in Whitehall brought together around 10,000 veterans and invited participants, who formed up on Horse Guards Parade before marching past the Cenotaph in time for the two-minute silence at 11am.
For Chic, the day carried a deeply personal significance as he remembered close friends lost during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

After an early start, he joined old friends and colleagues on Horse Guards Parade, where he was honoured to be chosen as the wreath-bearer for the RAF Police trade. From there the contingent moved into Whitehall, where King Charles III, Prince William and numerous dignitaries laid wreaths.
As the two-minute silence held across the crowd, Chic said: “Even with thousands of veterans and people there, you could have heard a pin drop. The moment was both humbling and proud.”
At the Cenotaph, he handed the RAF Police wreath to the official wreath-layers, and the parade concluded with the gathered associations reforming on Horse Guards Parade before the National Anthem and dismissal.
In the aftermath, the RAFPA assembled for a parade photograph, and when asked whether he would do it again, Chic said: “Yes, I would, and would encourage other veterans to do it, even just once – the experience is amazing.”
At i3Secure, we are proud of our strong veteran community from all three services — the Army, Navy and RAF. With our RAF-veteran co-founders and a workforce comprising over two-thirds Veterans and Reservists, we understand the importance of Remembrance Day. Since our founding, we have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and remain deeply committed to supporting our veterans and fostering strong ties with the wider veterans’ community.
It is truly inspiring to see one of our own commemorate the sacrifices made by our fallen so meaningfully on Remembrance Sunday.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
